cheonggyecheon Stream

Cooperation with: Monserrat Navas

Location: Seoul, South Korea
Programming: Urban Design Revitalization
Length of Project: 750 ft

This proposal seeks to reinvigorate the Baeogae-Gil’s sector of the Cheonggyecheon River in order to bring enjoyment to residents and visitors alike. Through innovative human-centered design, the project will reorient the human use of the site by prioritizing pedestrian circulation through the breaking of the existing urban wall.  The new program provides a range of activities for all age and socioeconomic groups, bringing back the informal culture of people gathering. The design plays with the pushing and pulling of the existing urban fabric to create rhythms that replicate throughout the site, providing a variety of sitting arrangements, relaxation spaces and recreational areas.
